That when Blueberry Hill opened in 1972 the only forms of non-liquid sustenance we offered were peanuts and that salty/sweet cousin of the peanut know as the Beer Nut? Not long after we got a hot dog warming machine. Then a little  while later we unveiled our first menu which featured cold cut sandwiches, served with “a few broken potato chips.”  The next step was truly a giant leap, as we outfitted a tiny kitchen with a grill and St. Louis’ Best Burger was born.

In the intervening years, our menu has grown steadily; new items were created and canonized as staples of the St. Louis restaurant world. We like to think that we have something for everyone, from homemade soups to red beans and rice, wings, fried appetizers, deserts, big salads, trout almondine, breakfast all day, and enough delicious sandwiches to cripple you with indecision.

Did you know that on top of all that we offer a daily special? It’s true. And they taste great! Today we have Philly Cheesesteak Sliders. Tomorrow it might be Shrimp Sara, Chicken Major Grey, a Breakfast Quesadilla, or a Meatloaf Plate.

Next time you walk in to Blueberry Hill, take a glance at our specials board or ask your server about our daily special. If you can pry yourself away from your long-time favorite menu item we’ll have something new and tasty for you to try!

You are probably well aware that it is really, really, seriously cold in St. Louis right now.  This is the kind of cold that causes otherwise hearty St. Louisans to reflexively shout obscenities upon opening their front doors in the morning. It’s the kind of cold that makes large mammals consideration hibernation. Fight that instinct! There is another way.

The genius of The Blueberry Hill Cold Weather Survival Plan is its simplicity.  When the bitter cold starts to get you down, come to Blueberry Hill!

We’ve got everything you need to keep old man winter at bay. First and foremost we have four walls and a roof to insulate you from the elements. Add to that a powerful commercial heating system with which we are able to control the temperature inside our establishment and suddenly the cold doesn’t seem like such a big deal. And these are just the basics!

The heart of our winter survival plan is the hot delicious food we serve, the warm smiles of our staff, the subtle warming effects of the drinks from our bar, the hot jams emanating from the jukebox, and the sort of camaraderie and conviviality that warms the soul. We open early and stay open late, so come in out of the cold!

Your cozy oasis awaits!

It’s that time of year again. Everywhere you look little lights are twinkling, there is a man standing in front of the grocery store ringing a bell incessantly, and you’ve already heard “Grandma Got Ran Over By a Reindeer” three times today.  We have officially entered the Holiday season.

The Holidays mean different things to different people, but can’t we all agree that the real reason for the season is to spend time with good friends and family? We fight against the cold and dark of winter with the warmth of friendship, familial love, and countless strings of twinkling lights.

Whatever your plans for the Holidays, let us suggest that you also plan to spend some time with us here at Blueberry Hill.  On a cold winter day Blueberry Hill is the very definition of cozy.  The perfect place to rendezvous with old friends and extended family. Our menu and bar have something for everyone and we are delighted to accommodate groups large or small.

Conversely, we are also the perfect place to spend a little time away from your relatives after several long days of small talk and cookies.  When you come to Blueberry Hill for the Holidays, whether it’s with your family or seeking refuge from them, we promise a warm and festive atmosphere. But not too festive, we do not employ a bell ringer.

For over 41 years Blueberry Hill has been grilling St. Louis’ best hamburger and slinging cold beers to wash them down. Our burger has won pretty much every award given out in the St. Louis food world, most of them many times over. So it’s easy to understand why so many of our loyal customers order our Famous Hamburger every time they come to Blueberry Hill.

And yet we have so much more to offer. Today we would like to alert the Internet to the simple deliciousness of Blueberry Hill’s Sweetheart Sandwich. It’s a staff favorite and and unsung hero of Blueberry Hill’s menu.

Start with a quarter pound hot dog split long-ways and grilled on our flat top grill. At the last minute melt some Swiss cheese on top. Then pile on tons of crisp white onions and sandwich all that good stuff between two slices of marble rye. We serve it in a basket with chips and a pickle spear. We’d also recommend a little mustard and cold Fitz’s Root Beer for a perfect lunch.

The first time you try a Sweetheart you’ll probably find yourself wondering how this masterpiece of the sandwich arts hasn’t found its way to top of the Iconic American Sandwich List. It’s a mystery to us too! But hey, everybody loves an underdog.

Until next time!

Seasoned St. Louisans know, that spring is the fleeting prize we reap after a long cold winter, and they recognize the importance of enjoying the spring weather while it’s here. What better way to soak up some vernal pleasure than spending a sunny afternoon on Blueberry Hill’s patio with a couple of tasty beverages, something to snack on and some of the best people watching on planet earth?

We contend that there is no better place. Come and see for yourself!

Hey, everybody! Did you know that our fair city recently celebrated its 250th birthday? It’s true: as of February 14th, 2014 the city of St. Louis has been around the sun 250 times! Amazing, right?

Thankfully for all of us, the good people at stl250.org realized that to properly celebrate a 250th birthday you need a lot of cake! So they went ahead and had 250 cakes made and decorated by St. Louis artists and then spread them all around town. Three of these cakes have recently arrived in The Loop. Including one right outside Blueberry Hill’s front door!

Now before you grab your party hat and a large spoon and run out of the house looking for a sugar fix, let us warn you that these stl250 cakes are regrettably more sculptural than edible.

We know in our hearts that if it weren’t for the myriad health and safety concerns implicit with leaving giant sugary baked goods unattended in the out of doors for the better part of a year, these cakes would be made from actual cake.

On the bright side, Blueberry Hill serves several varieties of cake that are not only one hundred percent edible, they’re one hundred percent delectable!

So if you find yourself strolling through The Loop some sunny afternoon admiring St. Louis’ birthday cakes and your sweet tooth gets the best of you, come on in to Blueberry Hill where you can have your cake and eat it too!
